Could homeworking boost satisfaction?

Research has found that workers place a high value on flexibility in their jobs, so could working from home actually improve job satisfaction?

The study, conducted by TeamViewer, found that 78 per cent of UK office workers want a more flexible work schedule in order to boost their job satisfaction while pay increases remain unlikely.

In the survey of 1,000 UK office workers, TeamViewer also discovered that 68 per cent would like to work from home and 50 per cent would like to travel less for their job.

With 25 per cent of respondents stating that they never work from home and 18 per cent explaining that they rarely work from home, there is a lot of room for improvement in flexibility if companies are concerned about employee retention but are unable to offer a pay rise.

Holger Felgner, general manager at TeamViewer, said: “The findings of this survey show flexible working policies can satisfy employees seeking an improved work-life balance.”

He added that in using the right software, people are able to enjoy “the freedom to work from anywhere at any time and on any device, while staying fully connected to the office infrastructure”.
