Brits ‘need better work-life balance’

In news that could encourage Britons to start working from home, a recent report has shown that adults in the UK work longer hours and take less holidays than their counterparts in other European countries.

Working from home can eliminate the need for time-consuming and potentially stressful commutes, which could be crucial benefits for the 40 per cent of British adults who told a Holiday Inn survey that the stress of their job has left them bad tempered.

A further 29 per cent of the 4,005 people polled complained that their work has contributed to making them feel depressed, while almost one in ten suggested that they had not taken time off in close to 12 months, reports Sky News.

Alexi Hakim, spokesperson for the Holiday Inn’s parent company, commented: "As a nation we need to face the fact all work and no play leaves us stressed out, exhausted and unproductive."

Last month, a study commissioned by the Institute of Leadership and Management and City & Guilds concluded that employees who work under flexible circumstances are able to be more productive.
