Homeworkers urged to improve their offices

As more and more employees in the UK take advantage of the chance to work from home, a Manchester-based design firm has highlighted the importance of setting up a practical home office.

There are a number of physical problems, such as aches, pains and eye strains that can result from a poorly designed work space and homeworkers need to pay attention to these kind of issues, according to the Neville Johnson company.

In fact, research by the design firm found that around 55 per cent of people suffer from various aches and pains as a result of the way their office has been designed, reports easier property.

Furthermore, the recent study suggested that functionality is important for people as they set up a home-based office, while keeping a work space free from clutter is also an issue to consider.

Employing "smarter working" practices will help Britain cut its contribution to climate change, according to the Work Wise UK not-for-profit initiative.
