Could working from home improve productivity?

Allowing employees to work from home could help to boost productivity and allow them to avoid the distractions around in the office.

According to research from LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, not everyone is getting through their to-do lists on a daily basis due to distractions.

The survey, which questioned more than 6,500 professionals globally, found that the likelihood for a professional to complete their list varied by industry. Those in the agriculture industry tended to be most productive, with 83 per cent stating that they regularly fulfil most or all of their planned tasks.

Meanwhile, the legal industry had the lowest completion rate, with just 66 per cent of respondents getting all of their tasks done, and art industry professionals were the most likely to agree with the statement “I tend to be distracted easily”.

LinkedIn's connection director, Nicole Williams, commented: "No matter what industry you're in, you can't avoid surprise phone calls, meetings or other unplanned tasks that can get between you and your to-do list, but you can amplify efficiency throughout your day to get it all done.

"Summon the collective intelligence on LinkedIn to work smarter and solve challenges quickly. Save time by arming yourself with insights before meetings."
