'Working Naked': new guide to home working

A new book from a home working expert aims to educate people on how to make their home office as practical as possible for their working life.

Lisa Kanarek's new book, 'Working Naked: A guide to the bare essentials of home office life,' strips home working back to basics and teaches people how to work without the support of the corporate workplace and how to get the most from a home office.

Kanarek urges those considering working from home to take a close look at every space in their home to find the ideal place to set up shop. “No matter what size home someone has, there’s always room for a home office,” she said.

She also encourages and provides strategies for home workers to strip down their excess supplies, control cascading piles of paperwork and balance their home and office life when they’re in the same place.

“Decide whether the areas in your home are high-traffic areas or whether they’re too secluded to make work possible,” said Kanarek.

She also advises turning an antique dresser or other piece of furniture into office supply storage and using a convertible desk or computer cabinet that’s easy to move or that can be closed up when not in use.
