Parents increasingly wanting to work from home

A new study has revealed that parents are feeling increasingly under pressure as they struggle to get the work-life balance right.

The research, carried out by home shopping company Kleeneze, showed that parents feel they are missing out on their children's school life due to work commitments and want to make a change to their working life.

One out of every two parents surveyed admitted that they had been forced to miss a key event in their child’s schooling, such as parent's evenings, nativity plays or sports matches, because of work.

The survey highlighted the trend in parents seeking more flexible working hours to enable them more time with their children, with 25 per cent wanting to work from home more in order to see their family more often.

One in three parents said that they felt distanced from their families at present and would be considering options in order to change that.

Jamie Stewart, managing director of Kleeneze said, “More and more parents are turning to part-time jobs which enable them to work round their child’s day. Working from home gives working parents far more flexibility and balance in their lives,” he added.
