Young Brits ‘want to work flexibly’

Britons aged between 18 and 34 are among the most likely to want the opportunity to work outside their traditional office space, according to a recent study.

Having grown up with a range of advanced communication devices and internet connectivity, younger generations are keen to make the most of flexible working options, research by Orange Business Services suggests.

The investigation concludes that there are more and more people around the UK that do not relate being in an office with working hard and efficiently, reports vnunet.com.

"Young people no longer feel that they have to work in a office and are starting to demand freedom in their working habits which might explain some of the poll findings," said Luke Aikmen, a young entrepreneur and member of the Orange Graduate Panel.

"In order to attract and keep new talent employers are going to have to look beyond the four walls of an office."

Contact centres in the UK are not yet taking full advantage of having home-based staff, Cormac Twomney, the UK manager of TeleTech@Home, suggested recently.
