Calls for Scots to work from home

A number of politicians in Scotland have called for employers north of the border to enable their staff to work from home, according to reports.

Focussing primarily on the potential impact widespread home-based working could have on limiting climate change, ministers from the Scottish National Party (SNP) are keen to see businesses utilise smarter working practices.

The ministers from the SNP are convinced that by enabling staff to operate from home the number of commutes being made nationally would fall and overall carbon emissions would be cut as a result.

And the more widespread prevalence of relevant technology means that around 40 per cent of employed adults in Scotland could do their job from home, according to the Scottish executive’s latest figures.

Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK, said recently that the trend towards working from home is inevitable throughout the country.
